Community involvement has always been a strong focus of mine. I've always believed that investing in the people, the educational system, organizations and businesses all help to keep our community strong and vibrant. Raising our daughter, Natalie, here in Bellport, my husband, Jim and I took an active role in ensuring that she was afforded every opportunity to excel and to fully appreciate what a fully supported community has to offer. As such, she graduated with honors from Bellport High school and was awarded a full scholarship to Cooper Union, one of the most selective colleges in the United States with an acceptance rate typically below 10%. Natalie has gone on to a successful career in the arts.

For as far back as I can remember, my interest has always been in the Arts. I began my career as a Technical Illustrator, working on manuals for the military at Dayton T. Brown. After completing courses in graphic arts, I transitioned into working for the internationally recognized Underwriters Laboratories using my skills as an artist to create initiatives for the sales team. I was an integral part of a team that worked on the overall branding of the corporation within the Strategic Internal Communications Department. My technical skills gave me the edge to understand the balance of overall design and presentation. Other responsibilities of my job included laboratory tours for overseas clients, Employee Appreciation Day, "Bring Your Child to Work," and mentoring students from the US and abroad.

I have used the skills I honed from my corporate background to develop my current business in Bellport as a custom picture framer. I've attended framing trade courses, as well as classes offered by the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), an international trade organization, of which I am presently a member.

My business started as home-based and shortly thereafter, I retained space in an art gallery in Bellport. A short time later, I successfully moved into my own storefront. After 6 years in business, and with my close association with the Chamber, I was able to work with the Small Business Develop Center to apply for an SBA loan in order to buy a building on Main Street in Bellport. I am now in a successful business for over 10 years.

I have served on the Chamber Board for 8 years, acting as its President from 2012 – 2014. I have been involved with South Bay Art Association and the event committee for the Boys & Girls Club in Bellport. I am frequently called upon to assist on projects throughout the village for many initiatives such as Bellport's Centennial, the task force team to help the village, as well as projects associated with the South Country School District.
